I've bought myself an Galaxy Tab2 10.1. This is my first tablet PC and after buying a Netbook last year.
I guess it all depend on what you want to do on the tablet, but the "cons" mentioned here, never really struck me as problems. The most annoying thing that all tables have, is the docking port at the bottom that also functions as a charge port. Because when you use the tablet you normally rest it on its bottom end on your lap (while holding the tablet upright) and then the wire on the plug is bend hard. It would be nice if they invented a charging or docking plug with the wire coming out of the side. This is only and issue if you use the unit while it is charging.
Other than that, the sound is AWESOME! I'm used to watching movies on the netbook with terrible sound, you can hardly hear what the actors are saying. So on the tablet I can actually hear it very clearly. Also I like to play music on it while in the shower and lying in bed, and the sound only on 50% and I can hear clearly. I usually take it down to the lowest volume while going to sleep. (And the the music player with it's auto stop timer is quite handy!)
I also use it to browse the net most of the time, and don't have any problem with lagging scrolling. I think the issue mentioned here is in such a small factor that they can just as well be left out, but there is nothing more serious to complain about.
I must also agree that it is almost identical to the Tab1, but I have never worked on one to be able to notice the similarities. And also the newer version of Android, ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) is a lot better than the older Honeycomb. And I don't know if you can upgrade the Tab1 to ICS.
Also the camera is quite bad, because it has a fixed focus, which is bad, because my 4 year old Samsung slide phone had a auto fucus camera! Also there is no flash, which also doesn't help. Like the author mentioned even photo's in clear daylight is grainy. Thought it is still useful if you just want to take a few "in the moment" photos and are not looking at high quality photos.
My pros would be:
1) The awesome speakers on the front, I can't imagine how bad it would be if they were facing any other direction (I can see how you would hold your hands buckets on each side so to reflect the sound).
2) The fact that you CAN make and receive phonecalls on the unit. I really don't understand why that is not a standard feature on all iPads and Tabs and other tablets. They already have a lot of "phone" electronics in there.
3) The screen! I don't have any iPad or iPhone, but the quality and clarity is better that I would ever need!
4) Android! Who would think that you can buy a simple adapter at the Chinese Mall for R100 and it allows you to plug any USB device in it. Like a wired keyboard or mouse (yes you can use a mouse on the tablet!), memory stick, standard SD Card.
Cons:
1) Camera is bad quality for someone like Samsung (since I had a better camera 4 years ago on my phone).
2) Microphone quality is also very low. I skyped a few times from the tablet but the pickup is not that good on the mic. Though I used a headset (single 3.5mm plug with mic and speakers) and it sound a lot better. I'm used to my Dell XPS17's built in mic that is quite clear.
