Best and worst fixed broadband connections in SA

The scores are very close - given that they are very subjective and could vary from person to person so hard to make any defiite conclusions from this. The exception is speed, where it is obvious that 10mbps will score higher and 384kbps lower. In this case the difference in scores is higher.

Therefore I don't think a lot of information is coming out of this particular result
 
According to Neotel N1 City the Consumer Wimax Product has been launched. There is no brochure and nothing on their website. RPM, can you investigate & do an article?
 
I don't think the speed part should be included here. Are you supposed to rate speed overall or rate actual speed vs expected speed?
I doesn't really make sense to me that ADSL 1Mbps should score higher on upload speed than ADSL 4Mbps.

Even the fact that ADSL 10Mbps scores higher for support than ADSL 4Mbps makes no sense. I mean would Telkom really give you worse support if they see you only on 4Mbps, or are the support queries totally different so they don't know how to help if it's a 4Mbps problem?

Let's the next one after Telkom has upgraded all their 284 n 1 Mbps. and also can you keep it simple just asked are you happy on (1) price (2) Speed as promised (3) Support = overall satisfaction
 
To me, some of the results on this poll are rather strange. For one, I cannot believe that the 384kbps download speed should be so much poorer than 10Mbps for instance. I would expect it to be better because of lower demands on the infrastructure. My experience is that 384kbps ADSL was *always* more consistent than iburst.

Were your respondents (especially those on 384kbps) not just showing their unhappiness with the fact that they aren't on a higher class connection rather than the consistency of the throughput they are getting?
 
No competition... no comparison...

Ummmm... Telkom are the only true fixed line provider... therefore any comparison including wireless providers in just totally skewed... try comparing apples with apples next time!

2 articles, one comparing ADSL ISP's(which you've done) and a seperate one for the wireless providers!


Oh and... geesh how on mother earth can you include Iburst, Neotel and Telkom wireless options, but yet exclude major broadband players such as Vodacom, MTN, CellC and 8ta...

This comparison is a technical disaster RPM and should be withdrawn!
