As the title suggests, I work at a company that sells various motor parts such as headlights and mechanical parts like clutches. I am looking for CPA legislation that pertains directly to this sector but I am not having much luck with it. I need information regarding returns as well as cash refunds and when a return may not be accepted.

Any help would be appreciated

I starting reading the legislation a while back (but got bored and gave up) and I am sure that the first few paragraphs refer to car services. The person servicing your car has to tell you upfront how much it will cost and any additional work has to be authorised by you first. I stand to be corrected as my memory on the topic is fuzzy at best.

CPA only covers product quality and not buyers remorse - your under no obligation to refund a client who changed their mind or bought the wrong item. But it would be interesting to hear about CPA in the car industry.

This is true but then the law changes for Direct Marketing as the buyer has a cooling off period.
So it all depends on what was originally bought, how it was purchased and if the item is defective or the client got cold feet.

We do not directly market our goods to our customers, they usually come in and ask for whatever part they would like.

What happens in some cases is that the customer asks for a specific part. Our terms and conditions state that we supply according to our supplier reference books and that should the customer ask for a part that is not what is recommended in the supplier reference book, it will be purchased at their own risk. This customer sometimes comes back and demands a cash refund. Our return policy is that we do not give out cash refunds but issue credit notes (except in special circumstances such as incorrectly supplied or damaged)
