Czech Republic looked strong on their last outing, demolishing a poor USA side 3-0.

Ghana will provide a tougher test- they really need a win to stand any reasonable chance of going through...

They have always been..............even before the World Cup began.

Ghana couldve been 2-0 up in the 1st half..its a much better performance than the game they played against italy.

According to FIFA the Czech's are the best side in Europe. Ghana completely dominated them and should have won by 4 or 5 goals.
 
sheesh ghana should have won 5-0 but i guess 2-0 is still good :D
finally first african win, shame about the red card..
anyway I'm sure the Czech Republic will bounce back, vepredu bojovnik bratri!

This is something I'll never understand about Africa... Ghana won, not Africa. I don't see people in England celebrating when Netherlands win etc...

Perhaps someone can explain?
 
Well because of

A) The amount of European countries in the World Cup - by default they're going to win on the first day and have many victories

B) It's quite an achievement to win against a European nation as they have better resources etc. Most African teams are poor and don't have the kind of specialist training European countries have.

I really enjoyed this game...brilliant end to end stuff, missed penalty, red card, keepers were outstanding so it definitely ranks as one of the better games so far. And yeah I guess I'm happy an African team won. icyrus it's probably cos SA isn't there so we need SOMEBODY to support, but to be honest I wasn't actually supporting SA when they were there in 2002.
 
hehe - I wonder how many people in SA are really ecstatic about Ghana winning - bizarre, totally bizarre.

I must admit, I don't get it, I really don't. They are African, sure, but heck, as icyrus puts it, European teams don't get excited when another European country wins and I'll bet Brazillians don't jump up and down when Argentina win.

Why didn't anyone want the Chech republic to win?
They are just as deserving as Ghana are. I reckon this will be the most talked about match in SA, yet Ghana are geographically closer to Europe or Brazil than to SA. They are as distant and different in thier culture to SA as Russians are to the English.

Yes, awesome game and finally a win for an African side, who fully deserved it.

If they had only worked out the offside rule at the end they couldve had about 5 ;)

bb_matt this pretty much sums it up. By nature people normally support the underdogs.

Ghana must just work on their shots. They shoot for goals and it goes out for a throw-in :p
 
Not a big soccer fan but I watched the game last night on sabc3 at about 2am and I have no idea how Ghana ranks against the other teams in the world but they did play a good game :D

Edit: Can some1 please tell me how Ghana ranks against the other African countries ? Dont worry no need to include south africa I know where they will be on the list :p
