As ever England play Sweden in the WC. This time a draw would be enough for England to top the group and play either Ecuador or Germany- I think Equador- in the next round.

This should be a good test of just how good England are this year as they are finally up against a decent side. Beating Paraguay and T & T took little effort, so we will see if England can perfrom when they need to and raise their game to beat a good side.

I say 2-0 to England :)

I'm pessimistic...England have not looked particularly good so far.

I'm speculating that England will lose 1-2.

I'm hoping they face Germany in the next round. Then it would be a case of so much for Englands dream of taking the cup :D

England have been really crap so far but apparently hargreaves is going to start . While I think he is a crap player he does play a different role to gerrard and lampard and might give the team more balance. I also hear Rooney might start ahead of crouch which is good news and might give them a chance.

Sweden have been pretty poors aswell so who knows.

People were saying that England were going to win the last 2 WC's as well. That goes to show how overrated they are

LOL, my prediction is a low scoring draw, say 1-1. England haven't looked like superstars in their previous 2 matches. hj2k_x is right, it'll be interesting to see if they up their games against the tougher opposition.

Ok, so I'm not gloating :(

Bloody Sweden ! - we haven't beaten them since 1968! - grrrr.

I can gloat, however, that we've finished top of our group, but man, what a **** performance.

Ah well, we get to face Equador - couldn't be better ! :D

Indeed. Not the best performance, especially in defence! The 2nd goal was a joke and the defending of corners was woeful!

But stil, like Matt says, we are still unbeaten, top the group, and get to play Ecuador who looked poor to say the least against germany today.

So i am happy :D

Off course you would be happy that England is going to playing a poor team in the next round! That's the only way for them to progress through the tournament :p

Equador are not a poor team, otherwise they would never have got through.

We have to watch ourselves against them - Germany may have hammered them with ease, but our dismal performance in the 2nd half last night is a wake up call.

England fans are happy but very worried, as we still haven't stepped up the game enough to look like world champions. I think losing Owen in the first minute threw England badly, which should never happen. They looked lost after he went, as they had bet on an Owen/Rooney combo to see them through.

Sweden were dangerous in the second half, but lacked the finishing skill - if they had better strikers - heh - and took better corners, England would've lost, but then, Sweden are a difficult team for anyone to play.

looked like maybe ecuador were coasting with one eye on the second round (probably did not see too much diffs between playing england or sweden)

all in all 2-2 was a fair result - england dominated the first half but sweden came back very strongly in the second...2 efforts off the woodwork whereas england's most succesful channel down the left with joe cole seemed to dry up completely

was weird they way they got the panics where the swedes had deadball situations - a lot of fine defenders in the england side esp john terry and ashley cole and was surprising to see them at 6s and 7s

edit: with owen out they have a problem upfront - rooney is the business and will get stronger but crouch is, i think, gonna come up short against the other teams. england have to look to their midfield to score - cole, lampard, gerrard, beckham - lampard will come to the party at some stage cole had a great irst half and gerrard is pure class and possesses big match temperament like no other (see under Istanbul, 2005)
