Hi I gotta question. In your experience as an Mweb ADSL user what happens when you reach your cap (let's assume you maxed out your credit card and you are not on auto-boost). Can you still surf? What exactly happens? I'm asking now because I'm about to reach it (it says 96%).

I am. I'm at 87.2%.

It's my first month so I'm not sure... :/ Probably will be hardcapped.

Used to be with them. AFAIK hard-capping with no leeway.

There are other far better providers than AOL . . . . oohps . . . . Mweb. ;)

yes I've been with them for 8 years on dialup, now I'm into my second month for ADSL, I'm thinking of changing to another ISP. Who you with now bwana v.12?

Yeah they're quite sneaky - they do capping at 12PM so you can only have 12h of uncapped goodness. They do it immediately :(

ISP's: Openweb, Webafrica.

Okay... So on the last day of the month you've got a 12 hour window of downloading as much as u want? Or will they charge you for it somehow?

Could you plead ignorance?

I think I'll cancel my Mweb account end of this month. They are too big and too expensive.

it will be good that you do that, Newyork.

just out of interest, how much do their 2/3/6/9GB packages cost respectively?

Newyork, i suggest you go with WebAfrica, excellent support and service, they also sell both SAIX and IS accounts.

I pay R219 per month for 2gigs, I realise now I've been ripped off.

I am going with TelkomInternet as to just get a little extra and then go onto a Imaginet account after TelkomInternet is capped.

I'm calling Webafrica tommorow
or you could just signup on their website and within a few minutes be up and running as soon as they get proof of payment :)

Used to use Mweb for ADSL but it was too expensive. Switched to uunet instead.

How about an addition to the poll (if it will fit) - Used to use mweb. :)

This is my first month with Openweb, and I must say, I have never been with such an Isp before. http://www.openweb.co.za

Their service rocks, and their prices are excellent.

Been using mweb for over a year now. I then stumbled accross this forum and I have now seen the error of my ways. I will be cancelling mweb end of this month and I have already signed up and bought prepaid webafrica ADSL. I cant wait till the end of this month. If one does not do any research (as I did not) when getting ADSL its very easy to be ripped off by mweb, in my opinion as there are soooo many better options out there.

Maybe I dont frequent the same websites and magazines etc. as everyone else, but I have never seen any marketing from most or any of the other ISP's out there, the only ones I knew about are mweb, Telkom, and Datapro. any way I am glad there are more options than just those three.

You can say that again.

I know a lot of people are stuck with mweb only because they us it for business and need to keep their email account the same.

AFAIK they are the most expensive isp out there!

Imaginet has a 3gig international/27gig local account for R240'ish.
27gig local is still good if u use DC++ Alot, or irc/local gaming/emails
