This is a letter that i wrote tonight to Telkom regarding the transfer of my adsl line. Thank you for reading it.
Dear Telkom
At the beginning of the month i called Telkom to ask them to please transfer my ADSL line on the 30th june to my new address. To my disbelief they cut the line on the 13th June to install it on the 15th June, how they could even think of doing this really beats me. I called the ADSL information desk and they kept on telling me that my line was ok although there was no dialling tone( i had to borrow a phone as i do not have a phone) and telling me that my modem was faulty, to make contact i had to use my cell phone as i do not have a regular phone i only use my line for internet access.
I was pushed from pillar to post, from one consultant to the next and at some stages i was cut off as well. This went on for two days. The cost of calls from my cell phone has amounted to R 191.00 which i think is so unfair seeing that the consultant that i spoke to entered the incorrect date. For two days i had no access at all to the internet and this is one nightmare i wish never to go through again. But one thing is that i can commend your technicians because they were really concerned for me and made every effort to get me connected.
One thing i couldn't understand was that the consultant i spoke to told me that the transfer from Green Point to Sea Point a distance of 4 kms would take 4 to 6 weeks but the following week on the 13th they were already starting with the transfer which was only required on the 30th June.
All i can say is that i'm really disappointed with shoddy service. It would really be so nice if you were "user friendly"
Thank you
