We are looking for South African domain owners who are willing to donate a single spam trap address which we can use to catch spammers harvesting. The spam trap addresses will not be advertised anywhere nor would there be any auto responders. Its sole function would be to sit and wait for spam. The only people that would know of the existence of these South African honeypots would be the domain owner and the ZASS team.

We do not require a mailbox but merely an email alias to forward all the spam to an account on our new domain. We mostly want to use it for statistics gathering and of course, catch those harvesters.

Should the spam trap be discover it will be removed from the system and where possible be replaced on that domain. More information regarding this type of honeypot can be found on Wikipedia.

If you are able to help us or require additional information please contact us on [email protected]

I suspect they're actually looking for spammers harvesting addresses from this site.

Not at all. We are just still in the process of finalising the last of honeypot details and will be in touch with those domain owners that responded.

Not to use it as an excuse, but we all have "day jobs" :-) The article by mybroadband did catch us slightly off-guard since they approached us for comment. We wanted to gauge the waters first and planned a press release during the launch of our website. RPM and his team just pushed things slightly ahead. The project is out there now, and we are sorting through the rest of the outstanding items as quickly as we can.
