iTunes store appears to have updated their Terms & Conditions....

Making reference to payment via PayPal...

Always get nervous with these things... I really don't like the fact that I have a fake US account... If I could transfer it over to a fully-fledged SA account, I would in a heartbeat... I reason it away by arguing that at least I'm paying for it, and not simply downloading it/pirating it - but still, don't like it.

Reading through the Terms and Conditions - I reason it's quite clear that if Apple ever did do an audit, they could legitimately close down all fake accounts? Surely the creation of such accounts amounts to fraudulent behaviour? I'm no expert on this - but has me wondering sometimes...

I have spent plenty of money paying for legitimate products. I hope that day never comes to pass.


Anyhows - paranoia rant off - back to the new T&C's.

Has anyone else had to go through the above process on trying to update something? It takes you to the opt-in page. I had a quick look - Paypal appears to be a new addition - or have I been asleep again?

It's doubtful they'd do an audit. It would cost a lot of money. What they do already seems to work most of the time, they don't accept foreign credit cards and they don't accept foreign PayPal accounts either.

They don't block people by IP address because that would block Americans living and traveling abroad.

Foreign accounts are probably an insignificant percentage, and as you've said, they get their money either way, probably more of it than if you'd pay with a credit card/PayPal.

So Paypal has always been an option - but only to US-based users? Never knew that, not that it makes a difference, since I'm over here - not over there... Wonder what changed then...

I assume that it's US PayPal accounts only, the way it's US credit cards only. But you could check it out, it would be a bit cheaper than buying online gift vouchers.
