D-Link Leaves Critical Hole Open for 5 Months, And Counting

D-Link hasn't fixed a critical vunerability after it was reported to them 5 months ago.

A serious security vulnerability reported last February to D-Link still hasn’t been fixed in a number of routers affected, according to several readers who have emailed DailyTech. The vulnerability allows remote code to be executed through the routers firmware potentially leaving affected customers vulnerable to attack. The vulnerability can give an attacker complete control over any and all network traffic.

The effected products are:

* DI-524 (Wireless)
* DI-604*
* DI-624 (Wireless)
* DI-784* (Wireless)
* EBR-2310*
* WBR-1310 (Wireless)
* WBR-2310 (Wireless)
*(Denotes firmware update available)

>As I do not use D-Link are people in South Africa using any of these models?

D-Link Corporation consists out of 3 main factories in the world. One in Taiwan, one in India and one in the US. D-Link South Africa import their products directly from Taiwan.
This means that we in SA use different hardware versions and different firmware version from the ones used in the US. A lot of issues, bugs and updates are done on our products that the US still need to solve.

Thanks for the update.
I was concerned when I read this report, as I am aware that D-Link has active support on this forum and sell good Routers.
Seems my concerns were unfounded.

Well done D-Link.

If I ever upgrade my current Router to a Wireless Version, I will be looking at D-Link.

Perhaps you can help?
My neighbour and I are considering IP Cameras and we have been told these can interface with the Wireless Router?
Which of these models would you recommend?
My Specs:
My network consists of about 7 PC's. Currently using a Zyxel Router to a 16 Port Switch hard wired using Cat5e Cabling.

Does it affect Dlink DSL-504T Routers? I got them loaded with latest available firmware.

Oh its sorted heh, hrm.. still someone from d-link make it possible for us to route traffic thru 2x simultaneous ppoe connections from gui/web interface pls pls.. :P would help while we wait for saix and co drag their feet with local access. Btw how much do those network Hdd brackets thingy's go for ? I want one :)

Or the DSL-300T.. which seems to have the ability to assign the same IP to my PC as it does to the modem.. excellent for all the torrent mongers out there :P
 
Krycor, I am not following your question. Does what affect the DSL-504T?
