I like the idea they're going with, but it seems kinda messy and complicated, not clean and slick enough for a logo. Also, what's with the ball thing in the top right corner? What is that?

I donno if it's a requirement or something that it must be in the logo, but I think it's some FIFA logo. It's in the germany logo, and there was one in the Korea Japan logo aswell.
The only think I dont really like is the font they've used for the 'South Africa 2010' text.

Agree about the text - the font made me think 'mmm, standard Office or Windows' font...

Not bad. I mean its just a logo, but i was hoping for something more really. Looks a bit like a work in progress to me... :|
edit: The ceremony looked good though. Professional and slick.
Why, though, did Thabo have to say we will make the best World Cup ever?? For it just to go off without any hitches and be a success would be great!

I bet most of the people here could improve that logo in photoshop...I agree the font is :| and it does look like work in progress but still it's not too bad....was expecting better though.

Just had another look at it now, and have to agree it with mooK. It's a good idea, just too 'messy' and busy.

agree with mook, logo is somewhat busy... not all that balanced either although one should bear in mind it is the kind of logo that doesnt require too much of a life span.

Yeah but its our first world cup and you'd expect that they try to do everything perfectly from the start...i know its just a logo but it does send out a message about us...if u compare germany's logo with ours you'll see that theirs looks better..well thats just my opinion anyway.

well yeah the logo is a bit of a disappointment after our president saying we were going to pull off the best ever WC. so far not bad, but not the best ever.
do they have time to change it? we could send the deisgner to this thread :D

I understand the need for it to be African, but it could still look a bit more professional for my money. Still looks like a kid did it one night in photoshop, heck even paint :p :(
