Well its all over sadly. Here are some of football365's favourite moments... I am sure people will want to add their own..:
Our highlights from the past five weeks...
* "Please show him crying, please show him crying, please show him crying...yay" - thus went the cry in a million English homes at the end of Portugal's semi-final defeat to Portugal. Sympathy for (Not The Real) Ronaldo was in shorter supply than Frank Lampard's goals this summer.
* THAT goal from Argentina. The name of Esteban Cambiasso might be forgotten, but the 24-pass move that led to his goal against Serbia & Montenegro has booked its place on every 'Best World Cup Goals Ever' montage. And they didn't even reach the semi-finals...
* THAT OTHER goal from Argentina. In extra-time of their last-16 clash with Mexico, Maxi Rodriquez took a cross-field pass on his chest and then volleyed home from 25 yards with the outside of his left foot. The best bit? He's right-footed.
* "Nobody wants to see that at the end of a World Cup quarter-final," said the commentators. "Oh yes we do," we shouted in unison as half of Argentina's squad started a game of British Bulldogs with the Germans. Without telling them. We're just sorry the TV cameras didn't pick up Torsten
Frings' punch/slap.
* Graham Poll's new 'three yellow cards equals a red card' initiative. Hasn't he been booked already? Yes, but Poll's clearly gone absolutely mental. And didn't it make brilliant TV?
* Joe Cole's goal. Possibly the only England moment of the World Cup that had a nation up on its feet with its hands in the air in celebration rather than despair,
* It's another one of those "nobody wants to see that" moments that everybody does. What would you want to watch again? The 'disgraceful scenes' (for 'disgraceful', read 'hilarious') of the Holland v Portugal match (16 yellow cards, four reds) or the Switzerland v Ukraine clash played in wonderful spirit?
* Fabio Grosso's fantastic 118th-minute strike that took Italy into the
final. From a sodding left-back, no less. And nobody, but nobody, celebrates
scoring a goal like an Italian.
* The really ugly face of football: Oliver Kahn sat on the German bench with
a face like a slapped arse as Mad Jens Lehmann barely put a foot (or hand) wrong. And how fantastic that Lehmann was lovely enough to say that he
wouldn't mind if Olly played in the third-fourth place play-off. So magnaminous...
* Seeing Rio Ferdinand sobbing like a baby - made losing to Portugal seem,
well, not quite so bad. Does that mean we're going to hell?
