This whole Micro$oft thing in Africa that Gates is going on about is noble but at this point in time just a huge joke

maybe 10 years time we can start getting ready for it.

Noble Intentions, but ...

I believe that pc penetration rates would be a LOT higher if software costs were reasonable. Hardware prices have been declining steadily over the years, but a pc is nothing but a pile silicon, plastic and allumium without the software needed to obtain any functionality.

We've read that MS plans to release 'stripped-down' versions of it's OS and other applications to certain developing nations, but we don't need more limted functionality 'toy' systems out there as the true benefit will not be realised. If that's the case, why not simply get developers to create dummy applications you can run on your Telegames (TM) TV system? It'll amount to about the same thing.

The one thing I luv about South Africa is all the planning and talk that goes into 'improving' the lives of citizens. You can't just do something without working out the bugs first. The thing I hate about South Africa is the perception that we're so different from the rest of the world that we're entitled to move on a completely degraded concept of time called "Africa Time". Good things will happen to improve all spheres of South Africa, from telecoms, education, employment, even crime ... it just seems to be taking far too long to be realised ... but it will happen one day

Some of these africans don't even have food,nevermind know what a pc is.Food is somehow higher priority i think.Help them to start helping themselves,then things can happen.
