Seems there are more anc lackeys than I even imagined out there. And taking sides against the crime site of Neil Watson is just not on. Who is getting favours/money from the gvt to do this? I agree with him and have posted the link to his site on so many forums it makes me dizzy. Why not attack this guy, http://www.southafricaiscrap.blogspot.com/ and see how far you get

This whole situation reminds me of the BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Its the most over-hyped unimportant piece of crap. How it gets any coverage is beyond me.

A number of other pictures on site, including that of a six-month old baby allegedly wrapped in newspapers and set alight, and a farmer shot in the head with a shotgun, can be traced back to an alternative site and date back to at least February, 2004. These pictures have also been carried on another site.

This is a far cry from information "supplied by the nation" as claimed by Watson. Numerous attempts to contact Watson on Thursday, even making use of his pay SMS service, were unsuccessful.
Where's all his supporters now? All that stuff about innocent until proven guilty - his sheer arrogance in declining to explain himself basically confirms his guilt in misleading the public. Reminds me of some of those idiots who try to be interviewd by Carte Blanche and then end up becoming aggresive towards the cameramen. If he had nothing to hide then he wouldn't mind being interviewed.

you're joking, right? Watson is a d00s. His site is cr@p, and he has no legitimate argument. Anyone can setup a website to say how crap life is, but at least offer a solution. Now he's complaining because someone setup a site with a similar domain...ag shame..

Ajak, much as I disagree with your politics, I at least thought you had a brain. Supporting this Watson ****w!t reflects badly on your cognitive function.

who cares - certainly getting the attention this country deserves - crime ridden bog hole that it is. perhaps now our goverment can do something.
He may have gained some attention, but do you think anything will be done when he's deliberately taken pictures from other websites and promoted it as SA crime scenes? Not to mention the other inconsistencies mentioned in the article. Do you honestly think that anybody with the slightest bit of authority will be taking him seriously after this?

The pictures are borrowed from sites that also depict SA crime scenes such as [southafricais c r a p.blogspot.com/]. Many of them are taken directly from SAPS dockets or given by groups that are sympathetic to his cause such as the farmers groups, who are concerned about the huge number of brutal farm murders. His site isn't professional and I don't think he went to a lot of trouble to check all the facts, so it's not surprising you found a few "inconsistencies".

He is making a point (a very valid one) - as we all have a right to do.

A fellow is trying to trick surfers into going to the wrong site by 'squatting' a URL very similar to crimexposouthafrica.co.za called crimeexposouthafrica.co.za. He is called Hans Heydra Snr. and owns the "Sloane Meat Market". He seems to be a fervent World Cup 2010 supporter, and obviously is concerned about his own revenue if the games go elsewhere.:o

Yes Skeptic makes a valid point. Irrespective of whether you support him or not, this is a case of cyber-squatting/phishing which is frowned upon.

Phishing is tricking somebody into giving you their personal details via an authentic-looking source. Cyber-squatting is registering a domain of a similar name in order to attract people away from their intended destination. There's a huge difference between the two.

As for the point about sourcing images which "may" be from SA crime scenes - it doesn't change the fact that he doesn't reference the original source of the images (SAPS dockets, rotten.com, or whichever source). That is the ethical thing to do, and not doing so makes him just as credible as phishers/cyber squatters. Especially since he made a big statement that he would publish images sent by victims or their families. Not being available for comment when confronted in order to clarify these issues is also very unprofessional behaviour if he expects to be taken seriously.

Nope, I am just stating the similarity in that often a confusingly similar domain name is used to trick people.

Numerous attempts to contact Watson on Thursday, even making use of his pay SMS service, were unsuccessful.

The article mentioned that attempts to reach him on Thursday were unsuccessful. I am not sure that is the same as avoiding the media or necessarily unprofessional. There are legitimate reasons why one might be unreachable for one day. Or he could be dodging them. Just not enough to make it conclusive in my opinion.

Now the criminals have law abiding citizens fighting amongst each other! They must enjoy it.
