How can it not be classified as an elitest service when a couple of million people survive on less than R20/day.

Other than that there would not be such a problem if Telkom got off their butts and woke up to the fact that they are not doing this country any favours
 
I don’t think she or ICASA can take any credit for broadband prices coming down. ICASA is just another useless "body" bantering loads of hot air and BS, they should burn along with Telkom..

From my point of view, Icasa has done a lot of things. For example, we have ensured that broadband is not an elitist service. Icasa has ensured that schools have access to internet.

I think we are already seeing prices going down. With more competition prices are steadily going down. With time we will see more price cuts. We must put in place a strategy to ensure that prices come down … we don't have a choice in the matter.

The president has said that investments needed to come into the country, and with investments, prices of telecoms must come down. We now have a policy framework that is going to facilitate the process. The minister of communications, Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, in her budget vote speech spoke about unbundling the local loop and ADSL is at the heart of that.

Do we really think telkom (a publicly listed company) - is going to be compelled by government to open its pipes or play fair? Only thing positive is telkom loses its monopoly on sat3 next year 07 (June?) -.
