i've got a VM prepaid sim and im going to france soon. their website says that only credit plan people can apply for international roaming which is fair... but i dont need it. i just want to be able to send sms. will i be able to send sms from france without activating anything or calling any one?

Nope, you will not. You have to apply for international roaming. So you can't with a prepaid VM sim.

Here is your answer. Got a e-mail from them at 23:03. Looks like these guys at Virgin Mobile wont let us wait.

Hi, because it takes a while for edr's to come from the foreign networks and bill the caller, at the moment none of the networks can offer roaming on prepay. Although it is possible to have international dialling to phone or sms foreign countries from within sa.

You could try go V100 for a month (or whatever) and then when you get back from the trip switch back to V0 - after all they say you can switch once every thirty days, don't they?
