Hiren's boot cd help

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how this works? I can't get it to boot off the disc. Eventually I used my 98 startup disc, but then it does not read the HDD (NTFS), so when I want to extract the files, there is nowhere to extract it to.

Pls help as this is driving me crazy

Old thread I know. But when I run any application on "Antivirus/Spyware" I get "B:\Temp\Avira\scan.log is not a valid Win32 application."

Check in My Computer, does the Ramdrive have enough free space? I find on systems with <256MB RAM, it gives that error. I then just extract the necessary apps to a flash stick and do it manually
 
That's odd, I find that extracting the app to a thumb drive shoud help. The Win32 error is a sign of the temp directory not being big enough. What version of Hiren are you using?
 
I think I might have a solution for you. First, copy the HBCD folder onto the C-drive or a flash stick or similar. Then, create a new folder in the C Drive root called New Folder. Then find the related .bat file in the WinTools (?) folder inside the HBCD folder that you copied. Edit the .bat file like so - this is Kaspersky that I am using as an example:

Before:

@echo off
..\uharc.exe x -t"%temp%\Kaspersky" -y+ files\KasperskyVirusRemoval.uha
start "" /B /D"%temp%\Kaspersky" "startKVR.bat"

After:

@echo off
..\uharc.exe x -t"C:\New Folder" -y+ files\KasperskyVirusRemoval.uha

Save the file and run it - it should extract the files to the folder you just created and you should be able to run it, provided there were no other commands that had to be ran such as keys added to the registry to register the software.

First time I've heard about Hiren's. Look's like a pretty handy tool! I think I've lost track of the number of times I had to search for tools included on that disk.
