Team Shosholoza & the Americas Cup

I was just wondering how many people follow the Americas Cup, Team Shosholoza and sailing in general.

For those who don't know the Americas Cup is one of the oldest competitions in the world (it is considered the the oldest trophy in sport) and is basically one of the pinicals of international competitive sailing (locally the Lipton Cup could be considered to be 'South Africa's Americas Cup') and has a huge following worldwide

Team Shosholoza is the South African entry representing Royal Cape Yacht Club - what is amazing though is that although the team has one of smallest budgets they are still competitive - after Act12 we are lying 7th for the 2006 season.

Anyway - just mentioning that SA sport is not just rugby, cricket and soccer

I dont think many south african follow it. But i must say, this event is very big and involves big bucks.

America held the cup for over 130 years then in 1983 Australia won it. I mean to win something so prestigious, after someone held the title for over 130 years, is quite undescribible.

I've been following the America's Cup since the 2000 defense in Auckland. Must say that I was disappointed that the Kiwis lost it in 2003, but they are looking good for the challenge in 2007.

My money's on the Kiwis to regain the America's Cup and to then defend it off the Hauraki Gulf in 2010/2011.
