The International Telecommunication Union co-ordinates the global agreements and encourages nations to make 3G spectrum available in the 806-960 MHz band, the 1710-1885MHz band and the 2500-2690MHz band. In SA, the operators use the 2100MHz spectrum for their 3G services.

So once again, we in South Africa deviate from international norms. Makes sense, why should we compete with global trends when we can do our own thing, not learn from outside experience, and charge whatever the market can bear. I'm really looking forward the imminent upgrades for World Cup 2010 :p
