OK , I cancelled a year ago .... ( crap service , but we wont go into that )

All of a sudden I get an invoice this month and the money gets removed from my account.

To top it all off , all of the numbers I have from them are engaged , even teh fax machine.....

Major power failure in Sandton, which explains the phone problem.

Phone your bank and lay a charge of theft against them on your account.
You will notice how that makes them jump ;)

Quite frankly I dont care about their problems with power. It is called being a big company and managing your risks , ie generators....

What I care about is them stuffing arround with my money ....

I agree with you. I was in a company of 10 employees and we had a generator!! Phone lines don't use electicity even, haha! I don't have problems with Iburst like you, but what they did was pathetic. Sue them.

Which is why I had an opinion on that after letting you know what is wrong with the phone lines????

IF they have taken your money AFTER you have officially cancelled then it is theft, so report them.

Else wait until the phones are back up and shout at them. Don't shoot the messenger.....

What Mannion doesn't know is that, the phones will work if the power is out...

All telkom exchange is backed up with batteries and diesel generator. If iBurst, as Telkom's customer lost power I am pretty sure the whole iburst network would collapse, particularly the e-mail, not to mention the phones.

The phones were out most likely due to usual Telkom **** i.e. broken optical fibres or network collapse or plain old incompetence.

What Tech doesn't know about is an iBurst rep posted the following on the forum

We have had a major power problem in Sandton. The local power grid station literally blew, its still smoking and this has affected us, mainly on the incoming telephone lines side.

I was just trying to let Gary know so he didn't keep trying the phoneline....

I would take a flyer the PABX system installed in the iBurst building has no generator...

I agree - sue their asses!!

I'm sick & tired of poor admin - and it's always up to us to go and sort out the mess!

**Like last week I got this speed fine through the post and I thought to myself - I've already paid this! Then *luckily* I discovered the receipt for the money I have paid the municipality three months ago (I was clever enough to keep the receipt, hooray!!) and thought to myself - I should write a letter to the Metro Police Chief and tell him that it's not really clever to hang out your dirty laundry and show the public how incompetant your employees are?

Or worse, they're committing fraud again.

Gary,

I had the exact same problem. I had cancelled 14 months ago and suddenly I receive an invoice demanding 10K. I spoke with the lady in accounts who promised to sort it out. When this never happened, I went down to local Police station, laid a case of fraud against Iburst, and had my bank dispute the debit order, with clear instructions should they let Iburst take any further money from my account I would close my account.

I emailed Iburst the Case number from the police. They sorted it out in 24 hours!!

i feel your pain mate .... BF2 RuleZ :D

give me a shout when you going to iburst i also want to give them a ear full of five fingers ....

ha ha ha, they phoned me the other day to ask me why I have cancelled my iBurst account, which I did about a year ago!

those people and their entire technical/management staff are plain retards!

and Mannion, resident professor doesn't know that most modern PABX have battery backup. I doubt they would split the PABX off the generator... but no Mannion thinks we all live under stones.

My wife's company ran for 1 1/2 days without power on the PABX, the battery went flat after a total of 32 hours. I doubt the power was out for that long in Sandton, we would have heard it on the news.

What GavinMannionwithRoseColoredGlasses doesn't know either is that in most cases, a UPS will not hold an entire computer room up for long. We got a max of 36 minutes here before we installed the generator.

back onto the topic at hand, it's really a pity though, they could have been so much better. Last month was a debit order disaster again. They debited the monthly fee late in the month instead of the 1st  like they are supposed to.

Holy cr@p JTech, that carrot is firmly wedged isn't it...

I was just trying to let Gary know so he didn't keep trying the phoneline....

I would take a flyer the PABX system installed in the iBurst building has no generator...

Which in simple terms means..

Don't bother phoning since the phones are out because of the power cut (iBurst themselves stated this)

and I am guessing (taking a flyer) that it could be the pabx system.
I didn't say it was I said I am guessing...
So JTech you seem intelligent. Why are the line down during the power outage?????

PS: Coloured

The phones "don't work" because WBS moved offices a few months ago and you may still be dialling the old numbers.

I know a lot of PBX`s that go offline when the power goes off line. Most often the lil asterix boxes.
