Vodacom looking to buy ‘varied’ communications companies

Another option ...

It is common knowledge that the average revenue per user (ARPU) is decreasing in the traditional voice-based telecoms arena, and by branching out to provide users with additional services they can ensure long term profits.
Another way to increase ARPU is very easy - simply do proper research and find ways to improve existing coverage to acceptable levels and allow current users to actually make use of your services! If it means install extra base-stations then do so, but look where it'll have the desired effect in improving signal coverage based upon the terrain and not just 'gaps' on a flat 2-dimensional map

They can increase ARPU's by making people use their cell phones for voice calls instead of SMS's. And they can do that by lowering prices. I swear it's like there is a magic bubble around some companies that prevents logic from entering...

The more things change the more they stay the same. It was not long ago that Vodacom got rid of their ISP division, stating that they will be concentrating on their core business that was cellular services....and not even five years down the line, they are no looking to acquire one yet again. What happened to foresight and taking the plunge...running with an IDEA?? Guess soon we will have YEBO BROADBAND -reframed- and ready for use....
