A website which claims to expose crime in South Africa has been sabotaged, Beeld reported today.


"Someone sabotaged it," said website developer Neil Watson.

Since he launched the site this month he has been criticised by people in government and in the tourism industry.

He said the website was hacked into yesterday and earlier in the week someone "planted" a virus.

His IT team had to work hard to get the site - www.crimexposouthafrica.co.za - up again.

Why does it take a "team" to delete one file? This whole article makes no sense. Sure, I have come across virii on websites before. Normaly a compramised CMS of some type. However, unless his got the most stupid IT Team in the world, it shouldnt take more than 10 minutes to restore a backup or 1 minute to delete the actual infected file (assuming there is one), and about 2 min to restore the corrupted page from your local copy.

His "team" were hard at work? common, did anyone actually believe this? Im sure his "team" and Persons "staff" must know each other very well.

Thats a lot of advertising space Mr Watson, going to a good cause is it? Or do you still want that free flight out of SA?

There's advertising on this site too so what's your argument exactly??
I suppose so long as web-hosting has a cost, folk will try and recoup it. It costs the same to SMS your 'community' radio stations such as 702..
 
a site like that costs what? R50 a month to host? ok... so its with mweb... say R200 a month. what costs need to be taken back again? And my argument, is that it does not take a TEAM to recover a badly written website. It takes one indervidual 5 min.

You're right about the quality ... the other one is much better ... [SouthAfricaisc r a p].

Did you notice that the PRO southafricancrimeisnotsobad type sites have sponsorship, namely FNB BANK and the 'spoof' site crimeexposouthafrica.co.za has a Meat Company/butcher to pay the bills?:rolleyes:
 
I went to the site twice, saw all the important webspace taken up by "advertise here", and something about a granny being raped. The "team" apparently cant design for ####, so I saw no more need to waste my precious bandwith on a frontpage lookalike site that did nothing productive.

Prehaps he needs to butcher advertising space to pay his "team". Must be paying them in chops to require a team extended time to fix a corrupted website.
 
Dude, don't you have anything better to do with your time? Who cares what who said, at least you know its a crock of ****.

There are billions of stupid people who would believe anything. Those with brains literally explode when they try to comprehend the utter stupidity of others. So chill. Go watch the ocean for a while, drink a beer, cup a feel on your gf, and then go back doing what you do at your job.

You dont want to die prematurely do you?
