and that it is merely in the interest on ensuring the quality of service that they receive from MultiChoice that they are informing subscribers about the possible impact of such changes.

If by "service" they mean that I see a picture on my screen - then yes, I suppose it does work (kind of). But that is about the limit of the "service"

there is a slider bar at the top of the image, slide it to the rigth to increase image size, then it becomes legible
 
Not sure about all this hacking stuff, but I am getting frustrated with Multichoice.

I am paying over R400 a month to watch commercials!!!!:mad:
Was trying to watch something on the History Channel last night and every flipping 10 minutes we get commercials.
But not one or two, but it carries on and on.
So I changed channels to watch something else and return every minute or so to see if the program has restarted. And it is the same flipping commercials over and over.
The worst must be the American Chopper Advert with all the revving of motor engines which replaces the people speaking. I can puke when I hear that advert.
Do Multichoice do this deliberately to frustrate their clients?

The Movie Channel is just one repeat after another.
Arg...Let me not get worked up.

Well, I need to know if there are any other channels for free except the two christian channels on the brochure. If not, I won't even bother.

me too...

And in my opinion multichoice is just as bad as telkom in terms of price..
They are a monopoly (in the true sense of the word) as well and charge an insane price..
I donno y no1 here complains as much about DSTV as they do about telkom..

The SABC is trying hard to beat them (in poor service). But then again the SABC has better prime time shows. Not that I bother with them. It's mostly History Channel and golf for me, to my wife's disgust. :o

Is that worth the money? I am itching to cancel...
 
The problem I have is that i do not watch sport on TV, if I do need some sport I do/play it myself.

I'm quite sure that most of the R400 covers the 13 sport channels on DSTV. And they are still planning to add more.

They offer 'light' packages which are about R100-200 cheaper but the bouqet is still crud.

I'd really like to see a combo of the movies/series, discovery/nat geo, bbc prime and maybe mnet (but not a necessity). The problem is that in that case they would only be able to charge about R24.99 for that package and nobody would support the sport endevours.
 
The sports the only reason really for having dstv. Well bbc,discovery,mtv etc. is good too i guess but if i didnt watch sport, it really isnt worth having it.
the movies are pretty old and the other stuff just isnt worth it.

Get an FTA Decoder, about £100, a Dish with 4 LNBs and you'll pick up approx. 4900 channels. Fair enough, about 90% are a load of **** but the 10% will keep you going for ever.

If on the other hand you need upmarket programming such as MTV, BBC Prime, Sports Channels etc. get a DBOX2 decoder also £100, load a "Hacked" image in and you'll get majority of the top european channels. :D

But then if broadband was affordable, you could watch some decent progs through the net. Sad actually.... :mad:

Edit: By the way, is the DSTV decoder not your property?! Unless DSTV agreement states that you are not allowed to receive other channels than what DSTV prescribes and you agreed to it than they are right. But on the other hand who cares what you do with your equipment. It's your equipment, innit?!
