Yeah, it's never been kissed... ;)

I've received my phone last Friday, and I've been fiddling and faffing with my new toy. I've only just realised that - although the GPRS/EDGE is configured etc with the Virgin GPRS and MMS settings, there is no apparent way to send an MMS.

Looking at another guy's K-JAM (on Vodacom), his slightly older software has an MMS group under the Messaging program, while mine has:

* Hotmail
* Outlook E-mail
* Text Messages

If you go into his MMS and click "New", it opens up his image folder to insert an image. I have no such option - tho I have the MMS Configuration menu item under messaging.

If I open up Pictures and Video, and I hold-click on an image, I have a Send via MMS option, but selecting it does absolutely nothing.

While browsing around on clubimate.com, it seems that there should be an antivirus prog in my programs menu - I have nothing. I don't have Skype either, tho they seem to indicate that it's a default program.

My imate is running the latest software image, but I'm getting the impression that someone at virgin or elsewhere has been fiddling.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm going to download the software image from imate and re-apply it to my phone. Hopefully that will sort out these annoying issues.

Try going to MMS in the Outlook menu and click Tools > MMS, and then check that Connect Via is using your GPRS account.. the right one though. If you click on the Servers tab there should be an entry as well.. if not then you need the settings.

i use avast for ppc. works fine
cool phone. the one thingthat bugs me is the fact that the gprs icon does not change to en "E" for edge.. i got the k-jam via virgin but am using my cellc contract on it. once i downloaded the cab fiel form imate i had all teh settings. including mms. if you dont have skype you are not running the latest version.
go to leaf.co.za for the latest one. be warned tho that it completely wipes your phone. it also fixes a couple of bugs with activesync.

The MMS option should be pre-loaded from the factory. Where did you get your phone from? Any names or contact details?

PM me all the details and I'll forward it to the appropriate department.

U've been haxxed!!!! :D
No, just kidding. ;)

HHmm, I am leaning towards the firmware not being either incorrectly loaded or not be the latest version.

The software is the latest version according to clubimate.com.

ROM version: 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROM date: 2/6/06
Radio version: 02.07.10
Protocol version 413.1.03

Erm. Hmm. Maybe I misread the imate site:

For the Worldwide English Build: NEW
Rom version: 2.16.9.1
Radio version: 02.07.10
ExtROM version: 2.16.9.101

I don't know what the ExtROM bit is?

There is *NO* MMS Option under messaging... the only thing there is is a menu item called MMS Configuration - There are entries for Virgin MMS WAP 1.2 and Virgin MMS WAP 2.0. The 2.0 one was default - I've tried both. Neither produces the MMS option or make the 'Send via MMS' function work.

The GPRS works just fine - I can browse the net with no problems.

I've downloaded the latest WWE image for the K-JAM from clubimate - I'll load it and see if it sorts out my problems. I downloaded the virgin settings CAB file from virginmobile (Which strangely enough, was 404 this morning :p)

I must say that I haven't had any hassles with virgin mobile at all, they've been great.

Ah, that might explain it then.

I'm about to upgrade, just busy backing it up.

Interesting - I 'cleared storage card' which seems to have reset the entire phone to factory settings - and all the missing stuff is now there.

Clearvue PDF is there, CA Anti-virus, MMS, Midlet Manager etc is all back. Looks like someone stuffed up the settings before they gave me the phone.

I was wondering why I didn't have to align the screen etc when I switched it
on for the first time.

It was sealed by virgin. It did not appear to have been tampered with.
