 Hi there. I hope someone can help me. I'm using gprs at this time for internet, but as you all know, it's very slow, at costs me a lot. I dont use internet a lot, say plus minus 100 - 150 megabyte per month. Are there any service providers that offer faster internet, but for a better price than R2 per mb which I pay now. I dont need a big cap, because I wont use more than I said above. Please help me out. Thanks a lot.

1. You could try buying a data bundle. I don't know whether it's available on Vodacom prepaid, but definitely on MTN prepaid and contract. (E.g. on MTN, 100MB for R100, R1.50/MB thereafter)

2. You could try Virgin Mobile, at only 50c/MB.

There are various posts regarding data bundles in the Vodacom and MTN forums.

Yes, try one of these 2

If you've been using one of the others up till now, try MtN with a starter pack from Pick'nPay for R1.99. Buy a R15 recharge and you'll get an extra R10 (and some SMSs). Use the credit to buy a 10 meg data bundle. You will be pleasantly surprised to see your credit go a LOT further than you anticipated ;)
[It isn't speedy though!]

Thanks jano for your advice. Mobile internet would be better for me. I'll try Virgin mobile, but are they a cellular service provider? I've heard of mtn's data bundles, just a pitty its' still slow. I friend tells me that iBurst are also good, but I dont have signal here. Thanks everyone.

If speed is an issue, why not just make the move to 3G, the data bundles are the same price.

The problem is, that I dont have 3g coverage. I querried at vodacom, because The tower is near me, but they said they will upgrade it with 3g only next year somer time.

With Virgin Mobile, you can get EDGE which is quite a bit faster than GPRS.

Yes, they are. They piggy-back off CellC's network and, afaik, currently offer the best non-bundled pricing - 50c per mb.
