Well I'm offended too because heaven for me is having a endless supply of Magnum Death by Chocolate ice creams. And I would like my God to speak with a Jamaican accent.

The fact that their reaction is less childish than that of some psycho Muslims doesn't change the fact that they're being childish. Perhaps we in South Africa have a smaller contingent of crazy Christians or perhaps they're busy elsewhere.

Any sort of ridiculous overreaction is an indication of a lack of faith, insecurity in their beliefs and the general mentality of a 2 year old.
 
Frankly if anyone feels offended by something on TV they can turn off the sound or just switch off the TV. If I'm not interested in seeing or hearing something I don't look or listen. Do the TVs they sell to religious loonies not come with mute or power buttons? Did god not issue them with eye muscles or eyelids?

If you want write an article, write to the newspaper, produce your own TV show, saying why you're not happy, but don't expect to be protected like a whining little child.
 
Well I am Christian, and I liked the ad. I saw no attack on my faith. I thought it was a really well thought out advert, one of the best around in fact, it made me laugh. Most adverts are silly, but this one was great. And to be honest, it offends me when "Christians" get offended about silly things like this. If there was nudity or blasphemy, or actual cause for concern, then yeah, sure do what u feel is right, but honestly, what a pathetic assault on a great advert... :(
 
We support freedom of speech in SA, which includes the freedom to make fun of people's beliefs. Glad the ad stays.

It would be heaven just to have cheap broadband and the abilty to choose an uncapped account like the rest of the world...

true, but discrimination is not allowed, and so is a limiting factor to freedom of speech.. but there was none in this ad in my opinion
 
I wonder if the complaint did not actually come from Virgin's competitors?

Maybe the idea of g0d being black offended the complainants :p
 
If I were a conservative Christian, I'd target TBN (Ch77 on DSTV) before I targetted Virgin. There's far more mocking of the religion there, with their blatant propaganda, crookery and unforgiving stance toward sinners :D

BTW, Hells Bells is an awesome music show on TBN for those who have not watched it. It teaches you that almost any musical note you hear is Satanic through some of the most outrageously innaccurate "facts"! Though my permanently mounted earmuffs are rather uncomfortable, come judgement day I know my ears will be as pure possible. :D
 
I think Virgin was delighted when they found out that the entire South Africa is going to be writing and talking about the complaints received regarding their ad. It's MARKETING! Now everyone knows about the ad - I wouldn't be surprised if they complained themselves - free propaganda and marketing. Amazing.

hell yeah! as a mater of interest in the cinemas the virgin add is slightly different
