ADSL Pricecuts any ISP outthere ???

WebAfrica, an ISP which has become synonymous with usage based ADSL packages and great customer service, welcomes the latest wholesale price reductions and says that they will definitely pass these reductions on to their customers.

Come WA, keep up the reputation and tell us what is coming for August!

PS I appreciate the fact that you did not have much advance notice ;)

I am normally all for any sort of price reduction, but this is rediculous. They can't work on such a price scale as the smaller companies are at a huge disadvantage here. Everyone will just sign up to the big companies because they can give far better prices and smaller companies are only going to get smaller :(

Sad to see that Telkom are not big supporters of smaller start up companies.

Scarily enough that probably wont happen - people seem to be hesitant in chopping and changing their ISPs for some reason. Perhaps they feel locked in by their email address or perhaps they just dont know better. Why do you think so many people subscribe to mweb?

True, but mweb is a large company with a HUGE budget for marketing. I'm talking about the small companies who don't have millions to spend on advertising. They won't even be able to compete in prices anymore, so what is the point in signing up with one of these companies. They will an even smaller chance of growing enough to be a big company.

I agree, it's another Telkom scam, get the big companies in their pockets and lose all the small ones to create a monopoly so that any competition will die before they can start being a threat..........

Sounds anything like Microsoft and Intel............?

Unfair Competition

This must certainly be a case where the Competition Board will have to intervene. It certainly will benefit Telkom themselves and Mweb against everyone else.

I don’t think any Competition Board can argue against their pricing method, its fair in the real world, as with any wholesaler, discounts are given to the customers that purchase in greater bulk, just like how Pick and Pay, Checkers etc can get a much larger discount then a smaller single store, oh yeah it’s called capitalism, smaller businesses are driven out all the time

Hey everyone just got some feedback from WebAfrica. They will be releasing the new pricing shortly but did not say exactly when. We can expects reductions in the prices of the 5 & 10GB accounts but will only see new pricing come into effect on the 1st of September.

Nice. However, I was hoping they'd bring down their R75/Gb prepaid prices as well.

They may still do that, remember this is not official yet. I just thought I would share some good news.

They have always done the best they can for us.... unlike Telkom.
