all I can say is

Damn, when the word "here" was used I thought "here" as in "Telkom has taken their finger out of their arse and are now providing us with a decent service for a change."

Hope the frogs enjoy it:(

Fear not ...

By the time we South Africans have stable and reliable 24mbps broadband, triple-play, unlimited local, 30Gb international bandwidth internet access, the French and Japanese will only be using about 1Tb connections to the home. See? Our number will be bigger

Woot woot lol rofl
more than 5000 times faster than our 384k
Did you hear me 5000!!!!!
:(

LOL can South africa's average hard drive even write at that speed? i mean you download at 2.5gbps then your harddrive may not even be able to keep up with writing it to disc?

But think of the big picture! With that kind of speed, multi-tasking on the internet becomes a reality. You play online games, download the new Linux ISO distro, stream ip-tv/video to 2nd monitor or route wirelessly to your HD-TV in the living room and all at the same time :D

Now, if only the human brain could do that all at the same time.

Actually the human brain can do a whole lot more and I think that's where the problem lies. It's capable of doing so much that people get bored and find ways to keep themselves busy ... hence starting wars, destroying the environment, retarding economic growth, overcharging for sub-standard telecoms services ... basically everything you read or see in the news or your monthly Telkom bill. It takes creativity and genious to make billions of Rand profit year-on-year more with fewer customers and get away with it despite numerous complaints and colloqiums - then again, it helps when your largest shareholder protects you from competition :p

One day (probably when we don't exist any more), telkom will also have this speed and..... wait for it..... you will have a 10Gb CAP per month (for the WHOLE month) :-)
