Hello, Could someone please assist or at least clarify.
I spent 10day in Namibia – 25th June – 5th July 2006. Prior to leaving country I phoned the Vodacom call centre to enquire whether I would be able to use my Blackberry in the Country. I was told no roaming facilities are in place in that country. Thus I concluded it to be pointless in taking this phone.
.
With that in mind I packed my HP Iraq 6515 which has internet explorer and email facility hoping that some signal may be found somewhere along the way.
I was pleasantly surprised to find in all “major centre” and over night stops, including Etosha full signal including GPRS. Thus I went about browsing my usual web pages and downloading the occasional email. I also received the occasional incoming call. I am aware of the costing on the latter two matters.
Imagine my total surprise on receiving this month’s bill to find being charged at some R7 per second for using the above facility. My bill this month is some 6 times higher than normal usage. When querying the billing with my service provider, Nashua Mobile, I receive a curt short reply, the billing is correct.
I also query why no sms or call was made by the Provider advising one of abnormal high phone usage – maybe this needs to put in place as a service.
Would someone be able to throw some clarity on this matter?
