Real Madrid plan to unveil Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new signing at 1800 BST on Friday.

Madrid announced on their website that the striker has agreed a three-year contract - but did not reveal the fee.

United said they have given the 30-year-old permission to travel to Spain for a medical - but insisted no deal was finalised between the clubs.

Real paid around 12million pounds for Ruud and United went out and spent 18Million on Carrick. Madness if you ask me.
