The SABC has reliably learnt that the Minister of Arts and Culture's office has over the last month been flooded with letters regarding a possible name change to the Johannesburg International Airport. It has been proposed that the country's busiest Airport, change its name to Oliver Tambo or O.R Tambo International. Members of the public with objections to the name change have until the end of today to write to the Minister of Arts and Culture. His spokesperson, Sandile Memela, remains tight-lipped about the tone of the majority of letters. He says due process has to be followed...SAFM news

Does that mean that sanity might yet prevail?? If he decides to cancel this HUGE waste of taxpayers money I owe him a apology and I might have to change my perspective that he and and just about everybody in his dept. are narrowminded, piggheaded idiots.

I doubt that he even reads the letters and I believe that he has already made up his mind but I MIGHT yet be proven wrong.

Yea .. I did ..
2 letters :

- I stated that I felt that my domestic has accomplished more than Mr Tambo and that her name would be a better one to use.

- I also stated my objection to an airport being associated with politics.

I doubt whether they will even open the letters. We need more open government - as in a D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y. This change is a fait accompli.

If thats the kind of letters he received, those in favour of the name change have nothing to worry about:p

I wonder how long before he says that becasue of all the hard and important work that he did he deserves to have a town/taxirank/bustation/meryy-go-round named after him?

This ‘dead line’ you okes are talking about, do the NSA`s shoot the tourists on this side, or that side, of what line?:D

What, don't they have computers? What happened to the e-Government they rambled on about? Ohhhhh it became imminent. Silly twit that I am.
