Are there any objections to a Vodacom Dealer represented on the forum in terms of contracts , help , new deals etcEveryone is welcome to participate here, welcome to MyADSL :).
As long as the posts are not blatant advertising.Ditto - no blatant advertising|spamming.
A new forum has been created on MyADSL for any and all discussions related to cellphones, cellular contracts, etc - basically anything cellular that is not broadband related, the Vodacom Broadband forum is therefore more focussed on 3G|HSDPA|EDGE [and although not broadband, GPRS as well].
Here is a link to the new forum: Cellular: Phones, Call Contracts, Content (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=138)

People will eat you up alive if you start advertising right away ....
You'll probably have to go through about 500 posts of purely helping people and telling them that you agree with them on how bad vodacom is.
Only then will they accept any sort of offer you might have.

I'm sure that the members, mods etc would welcome you Vodadeal, especially if you offer constructive, informative advice.
As Blob said, you would probably be crucified if you tried to sell your wares straight off the bat.
Welcome to the community!

I don't see a problem with it.
I do however think the mods and The Boss must give their ok.
Vodacom3G is already a Vodacom representative, mostly on the data side but he answers almost any type of query. And he is swamped I can tell you. :)
Maybe they 'the-powers-that-be' will prefer, or request, that you have been given permission by an entity or Vodacom to be able to represent them here, otherwise you will just be doing so in your own private capacity.

NO! I don't think we need an increased Vodacom presence. We need to keep a balance here, or else this forum will be seen as favouring one network over the rest (even more than it does at present). We already have Vodacom3g who helps with just about every aspect of Vodacom. Another 'dealer' can hardly match his knowledge and may just turn this into a sales opportunity a-la-person (who is still around!)
If I need a dealer i can just go talk to the dweebs at the shopping centre and listen to just how much they don't know.

It might be pertinent to again explain the relationship between Vodacom and the retail channel, the so-called Service Providers.
Vodacom owns and runs the network as well as design the products that is then resold via the channel. It seems Vodadeal is part of this channel and it must be noted he / she did not state from which SP he /she is.
A fair number of the questions raised here can easily be answered by someone like Vodadeal as a dealer, for example what the current phones available are, how different phone packages are constructed, etc. Most of these will now be handled in the Cellular forum and not here anymore.
I'm also not well equipped to answer these, non-broadband type of questions, so any (accurate) info would be appreciated.
Inversely, Vodadeal cannot give any official statements on Vodacom policies, network issues, future products, etc. or anything that is not retail related.
Other than that, every new member to the forum should be welcomed. Even the most skeptical ones! ;)
no objections here either, welcome :)

The question was not about welcoming new members (of course he is), but about whether they are allowed to take a role - as a Voda dealer. Maybe he is different, -- let's put him on a trial for a few weeks --- ;)

The choice:
1. Go to VC SP dealer to hear how much they don't know (your words) or give you incorrect information with no back up of what has been said.
2. Ask questions in the comfort of your home to someone that knows (hopefully) knows more than the average SP and then obviously have behind the scene influence at VC.
Gees, now that is a difficult option! If you however decide to go with the first one, just put Vodadeal on your ignore list.
I am with MTN and hopefully MTN would follow suit. Luckily they already have a great representative in MTNDD - he is giving V3G a go!

I say welcome VodaDeal
V3G does excelent work, but as he rightly says, he does not represent the service providers. Howe many times have there been talk on the forums that we can go to the dealers and get stuff, and when you get there, they don't know about it.
So a dealer's point of view would be great, as well as his input.
Welcome, I say!

What about a public forum on Vodacom4Me?
This is the logical spot for people to sort out problems/get advice without having to go to the lenghts of HelloPeter, MyADSL or other public forums.

What about a public forum on Vodacom4Me?
This is the logical spot for people to sort out problems/get advice without having to go to the lengths of HelloPeter, MyADSL or other public forums.
Have considered it, but why re-invent the wheel? MyADSL has proved to be a strong, professionally run broadband forum and does well to promote the consumer views. Vodacom can only partake as a normal member and the mods are there to keep everyone honest. The only 'privilege' I have here is a bigger in-box and the ability to use attachments :)
If Vodacom had to run their own forum, some forumites (such as Skeptik :) ) will have a hernia, citing manipulation by Vodacom, even if the intention was pure.
Rather, the on-line SUPPORT on 4me must be jacked up. I think this is what kaspaas meant. And he's quite right.
We're doing a fair amount of work on self-help, auto call-logging, etc. via 4me.
So, on-line support via 4me, open debate on myADSL.
I've tried to monitor a few startup forums, but they invariable fail after a few weeks, rather one place for everyone to meet. And today that is myADSL.
Makes sense?

Ye, certainly does.
Any work being done to improve the different helpdesk, 111, 155 etc.?
I am forever hearing and experiencing the terrible hold times on all these 'help' numbers....

All the help desks are being improved with more seats, better tools, etc. Hopefully we'll see an improvement over the next few months.

I guess the VC PR crowd will have heart attacs if threads similar to some of the more virtriolic ones on MyADSL would appear under the VC brand:D (BTW - do the PR people take a glimpse at this site?)
I agree with online support requiring a jack-up - 24 hours response is not the norm in todays world. However, they seem to at least call back, something VC's Big Brother still has not managed to do.
While busy on this: Please increase the time-out for the *111# service. It took me almost 10 tries to download the MMS settings on a phone. The current time-out does not allow for reading. You have to learn the rhyme 0f 3-4-99-99-4 etc to proceed to the next step.

Please add to the courses: Speak slowly and pronounce clearly. Many operators tend to try and rush, especially when the fires are very hot... and it results in me having to request please say again...slowing the process even more.
PS: Many operators I've dealt must have passed the above courses with distinction. Unfortunately the bad apples are the ones being remembered.

Absolutely, this service has been almost useless over the last couple of days. It's better to take the plunge and call the helpdesk...

I noticed some different music on 111 this morning.
"Can't touch this" - No doubt because of the irritating new meerkat ad
I had to hold on for almost 10 minutes while listening to stupid 'radio' ads in between breaks of "I can't touch that", before I got the option to press the callback button (#). Which I pressed @ 09:49 (roughly) and have not had any callback.
Why do you have to wait so long for the option to be called back???
All I want to know is what is the upgrade number one can dial? I think there is a direct 5 digit number one can dial to go straight through to upgrades. I know I qualify, I want more specific details.
