any idea on which contract it will be?
also, do you have any idea when the N80 will be on vodacom?

Geez, people dont read threads it seems. 
There are quite a few threads in this sub-forum and the Vodacom sub-forum where I have mentioned probably close to 5 times that the N80 is available on Vodacom, since the last week of July in the channels (which is when I saw it). The previous week it was still not available.
I have walked into 3-4 outlets in Century City, Canal Walk and they all had stock of the N80.
On a Talk200s contract they want you to pay in R2000, minimum. Some have quoted me R2500.
When going for the Talk500 they will 'drop' the price to R1400.
MTN supplies the N80 free of charge on their ProCall120.
This is a huge difference between the two cell providers!
I have queried it with Vodacom and am waiting for an answer from them on why this phone is so expensive with them. This was 2 weeks ago. Havent heard anything yet.
Apparently Vodacom will release new contract deals on the 7th August to the retail channels where the price of the N80 'might' drop. The precise details are not known.

quite honestly, the major difference in the price on vodacom and mtn to me means its not available on vodacom. its like saying "there is flights to the moon" sure you can go... if you are bill gates....
and at that price they propably STILL have all the stock you saw at the 3-4 outlets

My contention is they (vodafone/vodacom?) are not prepared to discount the phone if it is not vLive branded. When last have you seen a vLive branded phone at a pay in price of R2500 on a weekender contract.
The vLive branding on a phone does not do anything negative on the phone (except when they install DRM - but that is probably a license issue.) but I hate it when they change the icons to those horrible red 'lifeless' ones and the user cannot change back to the default - SE is a prime example - on the Symbian Nokias you can at least change the icons back to the default icons. And the overall red colour of everything is a real letdown - so change the vodafone live colours and people would not hate it so much.

The R2500 amount is the maximum I have been told to pay in on the N80 when taking it with a Talk200s contract. The lowest amount was R2000.
On Talk500 they will give it for R1400.
With MTN the phone is free on ProCall120.
Now adsl3g reckons the reason the N80 is so expensive on Vodacom is due to them not branding it with VLive.
New pricing deals are apparently out on the 7th August, which is when the price might change.
