Is it not a market or listing requirement for listed companies to divulge information that may have a major impact on the sentiment of shareholders as soon as they know ?? The major stroke allegedly suffered by the 62 year old Chairman of Telkom in early July, Nomazizi Mtshotshisa, is being kept quiet unsuccessfully (as everyone is talking about her incapacity) i.

The Chairman doesn't usually have much to do with the day to day running of the company so I doubt this will change anything.

Oh yes, such an event definitely has an impact, especially if the chairman is well respected and has done good things for the company. The reverse is also true.
The same way, a successor can be just as influential.
