De Lille and ID back sanctions against Israel

Patricia de Lille's Independent Democrats (ID) has come out in support of a march organised by the Coalition for Sanctions against Israel, which is taking place in Cape Town on Saturday.

In a statement on Friday, De Lille said she and her chief whip, Avril Harding, and MP Lance Greyling will be accompanied by party members at the 10am march.

"The ID has always stood on a platform from where human rights abuses must be condemned wherever they occur in the world," said De Lille. "In light of our own history of human rights violations, as South Africans we should be the first to condemn these abuses."

She called on the South African government to impose sanctions on Israel.

De Lille said her party supports the call by the Human Rights Watch for United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan to set up an international commission of inquiry to probe Israel's war crimes and formulate recommendations with a view to holding accountable those who violated the law.

Her party also supports the call for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

The ID believes the United States -- which it accused of "openly taking sides" -- should be removed from its "so-called role" as mediator in the conflict.

I guess the main reason they came out and said this is because many of her voters in the cape (who are probably still pissed at her) are Muslim. Just a guess, might be wrong. :o

Remember thats where they came from, never changed, terrorists in charge IMHO. She has to do something to get attension. But anyway what else would you expect from a bunch of Anti - Christ-ians!

In the real world - who gives a toss what da lilly has to say. Irrelevant. The longer she keeps her mouth shut the better she'll be. Another liar (and I did vote for her once - first time local)...

And just to say: (from what I recollect - and I could find the links) - the soldiers (remember them) - were kidnapped by some extreme fringe group - not hezbollah per se - who are now dragged into a war they didn't want - especially as just 2 weeks before - they had reluctantly agreed to the state of israel.

Timing is notably timous.
 
It think u people are looking at it wrong. :rolleyes: but time will tell. So far we've had the US and now Israel invade.. don't be supprised if we have other countries pull the same stunts and then say 'but why can't i do the same?'

These monkeys cant even sort out the issues in Zimbabwe (Which just happens to be next door) and now they think they have the answer to the politics in the Middle East.. its slightly out of their league and has absolutely nothing to do with South Africa! What do they do, wake up in the morning, catch an early edition of B(iased)B(roadcasting)C(orporation) and base their stupid decisions and statements on that? Or second hand information they have heard from the propaganda specialist hijacking palestinian chicki that was here recently?

How many of these morons calling for sanctions have even stepped foot in Lebanon on Israel?

Both sides are terrorists.

And the Israelis are even bigger cowards than the people they're attacking. If they weren't gutless they'd use their allegedly excellent special forces teams to go in and take out those launching rockets.

Wonder how people would feel if one of our neighbours was destroying Johannesburg because some radicals were launching attacks across the border?

Israel if they ever had the moral high ground lost it decades ago. This latest overreaction is possibly the lowest they've ever sunk.
 
Stop worrying about International issues, worry about your own people!
 
The real problem makers in that region is Syria, the guys that make the terrorist org's and Iran the weapon supliers to terrorist; and they building bloody nukes!

I don't know why people are so moany moany now that israel is dishing back what its been recieving in the past 10 years of suicide bombings.

In fact I think Israel is being quite lenient. The civilian death toll could have been much much higher if you concider the amount of bombs they are dropping.
