Blind may soon 'see' with shoes

Good idea bad scenario.
Has this been tested in a busy street? Where everyone nudges in front of you due cultural hang-ups. Can the shoes detect traffic robot signals?
And the warm feeling of a guide dog that loves his mate and would do everything to protect his best pall. No substitution for a guide dog.
