Telkom packages add evidence of executive pay problem

It's hard not to make money at Telkom. I really hope they had to sell their soul to the devil when signing that contract.
 
That only applies if you are fortunate to be in management @ Telkom.

For a worker on the floor it is a monumental task to get near management. Telkom works on the basis of whomever can lick the most butt gets the position.

A lot of these managers have been there since before 1994 and AA/BEE. A lot of them got there through kissing butt and having friends in high places.
 
I am 20 years old. I can honestly say that if one were to add up every iota of money I have ever received (including salaries, birthday money, pocket money, etc.) as well as the monetary value of anything I have ever owned (my car, pc, bed, etc.) it probably wouldn't even come to R500 000. However, if I decided to walk into someone's house and steal 6.6 Million, I would be sent to jail. What makes Papi and Sizwe better than me? Through their exhorbitant prices, they may as well be walking into our houses and stealing our money, it comes down to the same thing.

I am 35, and I have spent close to R1.3 million in my entire life time :eek: (I'm a receipt freak, kept every one since I can remember - can go check the date of the first one). I am not a millionaire. I used to be a smoker (quit about 6 months ago) and spent ~ R23500 on cigarettes in my life time alone. (I have smoked away what some people earn in a year :eek: )

Sizwe earned more in 3 months than what I earnt/spent in my entire lifetime. :mad:

Oh well, at least I'm happy :D
 
Is this just more spin from Telkom to imply that they don't want to implement $alary cuts for their top-brass? :eek:

CEOs earn big bucks. Any large company, anywhere in the world.

Comparitively, this remuneration is not that large. I work for a large company and earned R4m last year and I'm not even in senior management. It's about supply and demand. If your skills and background are in demand, and you control billions of rands of assets/revenue, you can name your own package.

You can also be sure that Nxasana didn't take a pay cut when he moved from Telkom to FNB...
