Trojan? [Win32][VMC_6.03.0002.0: UpdateX.dll {"Win32:Agent-ATQ[Trj]"}]

Hi people, howsit.
So I update my Avast! antivirus software do a scan and then, it happened.

Trojan found! But guess where? In the file UpdateX.dll in the Vodafone control panel software. Its apparently the "Win32:Agent-ATQ[Trj]" trojan.

So fine, I deleted it and then the Dash doesn't work anymore. Unistall, scan remove virus again, reinstall dash from backups. Finds it again in the same file.

So whats going on? I downloaded the dash software directly from Vodacom and burned it straigth to the backup disk. Is this trojan an actual part of the dash software or is Avast! maybe confusing legit software for malware for some reason?

I'm really in the dark here guys, I can't remove it 'cause then I don't have Internet and mail. What do you suggest?
 
why don't you try uninstalling Avast and run it again or a other anti-virus software like AVG from www.grisoft.com it'll "heal" the file always works for me.
 
I suggest placing the file in a temporary directory, download AVG free and scan the directory, if it says the same thing, it's most likely a trojan. If it doesn't well you know what ;)

Which version of VMC is this, and if it is a trojan, are you sure that your downloaded copy [.zip|.iso ???] was not infected by malware after you downloaded it?
 
Hi, IC. Its VMC_6.03.0002.0 and I don't know if malware might have affected it between the minutes it took to download and write to disk. It might have.

I tried the M$ spyware remover, Spybot SD, AVG and Lavasofts app none got it. Only Avast! got it and it keeps on reminding me every time I connect!

Avast! only finds it in two places on my drive though, the VMC install files and the Vodafone program files in Programs. Maybe someone can try Avast! and see what happens?
 
avast is gay !! i removed avast today after having the same problem and installed bitdefender for the cleint
 
Wait, so you had this as well? I googled the trojan name and ended up at Avast!s online database so it seems like only they know about it.

I'm not so keen to giveup on Avast! so easily though, its never been wrong before and stopped some pretty nasty sh*t in the past.
 
@Geriatrix, I have the same version of VMC installed on this here notebook, and AVG hasn't detected any problems with it...
 
@IC, yeah I tried AVG aswell and nothing. I think I'll just mail Avast! and ask them WTF or something.

Seems like its not serious though.
 
The problem seems to be fixed by either the latest virus defenitions or program update. I have had this before with another dll too. One that couldnt possibly have had a virus. Its fixed now though. No harm done i suppose.
