Based in part on the research conducted in the states? Just Give Me a Simple Phone (http://www.wired.com/news/wireservice/0,71016-0.html?tw=rss.index), Cell customers want simple phones: survey (http://reports.discoverychannel.ca/servlet/an/discovery/1/20060529/discovery_cell_simple_060529/20060529?hub=DiscoveryReport).

Good idea IMO as long as the price is right - simplicity shouldn't be seen as a value added service.

"Vodafone Simply will be available from 24 May (2005) and will costs £80 on prepay and free with a contract."
http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news.php?newsId=1244

If it's the same phone (delayed by testing?) then I suppose adjust prices down for a 2005 model, then up for the SA market ;)

SA premium strikes again.

EDIT - Those in-store activations are usually the r199 ones arent they.

Hey Bwana - the super6 or 46664 starter packs are R149. The 4U and power pack are R199. You can take any one of the 3 - abviously the cheaper one will have to do - the only **** thing is the in store activation.
I got the Game advert in store on Wednesday (was looking for a PAYG phone) and grabbed the Spring 2006 catalogue.
Funny thing again, i got the SEv600 on PAYG, and did not even have to show any form of identification for the starter pack - they did not even take my name as it was a cash deal. Last week I got the R1.99 MTN starter amongst the groceries and also no id required.

Last week I got the R1.99 MTN starter amongst the groceries and also no id required.I noticed that pick and pay is still selling all of the sim packs at the till points.

I've got a drawer full - for when overseas guests visit - that I wont even bother registering when the time comes. @ r1.99 for a sim its really not worth the effort.

Virgin had the right idea requiring it up front. Its going to save them a lot of hassles (and therefore money) in the end.

Don't they expire after a while - i.e. must they not be activated before a certain date??
