View Full Version : KG800, evidence of a corrupt telecommunication industry :(

Today I discovered that the email client on my LG KG800 was missing/disabled. So of course I contacted both virgin mobile and LG South Africa. They claimed that the phone does not have an email client ... which is a blatent lie. I know for a fact that the LG Chocolates in the UK do in fact have a native email client!

This brought me to the conclusion that the GSM service providers asked LG to disable this feature on the phone. So tomorrow I will try and take my phone back the the shop I bought it from. I doubt that they will take it back because I had it for 2 weeks already, but it still looks brand new and still has the plastic wrapping thing on it - so it won't hurt to try.

In case I don't manage to get to swapped out for another type of phone, what should I do. Would it be possible to flash the phone's firmware to re-enable this feature? Another funny thing is the fact that the email option is sometimes visibl e on my phone, but it mysteriously disappears from time to time ... so obviously hidden by via (and badly at that! ).

Your opinions will be valued greatly.

Does anyone know if its possible to update the firmware on the LG Chocolate (KG800)? Has anyone heard of it being done?

I am hoping to restore the email functionality of my phone. Thanks.

I dont see where the corruption lies - you'd think the network would want email enabled as it would generate more income for them.

Well I was just thinking that they would prefer for you to make phone calls or send messages via mms / sms, as that is where the real money lies. But you are right, I doubt it was the network operators now. Most likely LG shipped some defective phones down here or something

So, after 2 weeks of using this phone I sent it back to LG to have it looked at. It sometimes just rebooted when I used applications like the internet browser or some java programs. Its not the battery because it even restarted when it as lying on my desk.

I am going to have a look at the howard website now.
