We're looking for new (junior) employee. If you're on mybb, you probably have the required level of technical knowledge and should apply.

Requirements:
  • Sense of humour
  • LLB degree
  • Spent some time at a law firm / ideally finished articles
  • Adapts easily to changing situations
  • Able to think on your feet
  • Able to work in an office with loud music playing in the background
  • Self-motivated
  • Working knowledge of EC law and regulations an obvious bonus
  • Comfortable level of technical knowledge + ability to Google/Wikipedia and pick up new concepts easily
  • Sense of humour

Salary and location negotiable.

I've watched all the seasons of Boston Legal and model my character on Allan Shore. I've also watched Suits but it is my opinion that it is not much of a legal drama as Boston Legal was. Opinions aside, I'm extremely sharp, witty, intelligent and will provide you with excellent services. If you hire me, me will love you long time.

There is no attached invoice, and the language is too conciliatory for you to be a competent lawyer.

    I am assuming that this means admission as an attorney and appearance rights in the lower courts is preferable but not required

    As happens everytime there is new minister?

    Isn't that illegal in South Africa? Some people don't have feet.

    [*]Able to work in an office with loud music playing in the background
    Also useful if you need to commute on a taxi

    Not sure how knowledge of the Eastern Cape helps?

Wow, thorough lawyers we have here if none could pick up that you mentioned sense of humour twice...
 
Alternatively....

Requirements:
  • Sense of humour... can laugh when you are asked to make the tea
  • LLB degree ... does not agree with tea
  • Spent some time at a law firm / ideally finished articles ... spent time making tea in another firm
  • Adapts easily to changing situations ... knows where to make the tea
  • Able to think on your feet ... knows were to buy tea
  • Able to work in an office with loud music playing in the background ... while making tea
  • Self-motivated.... make some tea for yourself
  • Working knowledge of EC law and regulations an obvious bonus ... no, but will be overlooked for a nice cup of tea
  • Comfortable level of technical knowledge + ability to Google/Wikipedia and pick up new concepts easily ... how to make japanese tea
  • Sense of humour ... we like tea too

Like anyone actually has an understanding of the law when they finish their LLB...

We're non-practising, so don't care about right of appearance. Do care about you having the basics down and not having to waste time teaching you how to do it, which is why this is a requirement. ie you'll be thrown into the deep end and I haven't time to rescue you, so you should have the skills to avoid drowning.

As happens everytime there is new minister?
And every time ICASA publishes new regulations or changes internal processes or their minds...

Able to think on your feet
Isn't that illegal in South Africa? Some people don't have feet.
Tricky, since the office is up 4 flights of stairs with no wheelchair ramp or elevator.

Also useful if you need to commute on a taxi
I'm told the taxis don't go this far south.

Sadly the done there was an error - which I tried and failed to correct with the edit function and failed - the "Done" is a product of typing what I was saying out loud. I was telling my sister be there in a sec let me finish while typing it up, added the emoticon and was going to type "Need to type something for it to post", this became "Done" as I dashed off.

Yes Rhodes has been my affiliation for 10 years (currently it is UNISA, doing a short course - C++ Programming as a second programming language), but I can in all honesty and seriousness say I was never a Rhodes Law Student -- I hung out in the law library a lot and popped into the occasional Legal Theory lecture and exam, but I was never a Rhodes Law Student (for one thing I was always in the Humanities Faculty) and the feeling is quite mutural between myself and Law Students (I was however nominally a member of the law students society to my lifelong shame) although I suspect that will change if a peer review article is published.

Moreover while it is possible - and preferable - to never be a Rhodes Law Student and obtain an LLB in addition to never having been a Rhodes Law Student I don't posses an LLB. I have however been referred to as "Learned Counsel" by Telkom's lawyers and have had to have an Order of Court amended to remove "Having heard counsel for the Applicant". Hence the one key objective appointments criteria doesn't stand in my favour.
