I'm going on walkabout next year and I need something with the longest battery life, uses will be to upload music to my Ipod/MP3 phone and to download and store photo's from my camera/phone. It'll probably also charge my Ipod in emergency's as well as be used in internet cafe's.

If it's got a solar power adaptor that would be even cooler. :)

If I was you I'd ask people to give you realistic indications of what their laptops battery life is like with real time use. What you read on the company's pages and what you get in reality are two different thing.

Since you're going on walkabout - presumably overseas - another important consideration might be worldwide warranty support.

Also - given that you have an ipod have you looked into getting a card reader for it and storing the pics directly to it.

I have'nt bought anything yet so I'm looking for ideas, most probably the camera/mp3 player will be a mobile phone seeing as I would be able to upload photo's directly to my photo blog as soon as I take them.

The laptop would only be for fun, something small/long battery life.

Hi

Ive done development with WAP 2 (xhtml), just know that if you intend to access your blog and upload from the phone, that not all phones support the file upload feature. My nokia 6230i and S/E w800 does but some HP ipaqs that I have trieds it on don't.

I presume you intend to dump the images from the phone/camera to the laptop and then upload from the pc, unless you have another idea. Maybe mms to a email address and have an application check your email and upload the image.

What websites can I join to get this?

I recently saw a MacBreak video podcast about using mail rules to post photos from a cellphone to a blog.
The code is from the Apple Automator (http://automator.us/iweb/index.html) website. Just look up the "Cellphone Image Blogger".

This might be something that you could use and may free you from having to carry a laptop around.

My wordpress blog has a setting where you specify an email account for it to monitor - any email that arrives gets added to the blog.

Its a really good idea to use a completely random and complex email address for obvious reasons unless you want to blog about your need for Viagra!
