‘Little chance’ of Telkom making new ADSL deadline

30 days is a generous grace period.

"Little chance" of me getting broadband at these prices.

Maybe if the Telkom Techs work during the week also and not just over weekends it would go faster

So I guess now would be a good time for ICASA to start getting the fines ready. Right?

Am I the only one who thinks 30 days for ADSL installation is way too long? Does anyone know the average installation time internationally?

If Telkom had enough capable staff, they should be able to do the installation in no longer than 2 weeks.

Maybe they fired the wrong half of their workforce. :p

In UK it takes 2-3 days at most and I've heard in Norway you can order ADSL with your Pizza. Sick.

i would be happy with 30 days... better than my projected 4 month waiting time

No Jokes guys, I agree that 30days is still too long.
We are all paying a freakin load of money for utter B***S****.

I stayed in Alabama for a few weeks last year. Ordered my ADSL over phone one day, techies came the next morning, installed everything, and I was surfing away after they left. Took them only 10 minutes, maybe less...

Goes to show guys, do not put up with Telkoms pathetic service, Nail Them! :D

If the management cant organise a system whereby installation inefficien
cies are adressed and the process streamlined, well, then they are just pathetic.

I suggest a R1 million fine per day per customer for every day Telkom is late in installing that specific customers line...

Nope, you're not alone in thinking that 30 days is too long, but ICASA can always review that grace period once [if ever ] Telkodemonopolies manages to clear the current installation backlog, IMO it should be 10 business days from placing the order for ADSL...

The bizarre thing about Telkodemonopolies and its constant failure to provide ADSL to potential customers, is that DSL is the future of Telkodemonopolies, and yet the beast continues to dispose of potential customers by throwing them into file 13, one would think that this is completely illogical and that Telkodemonopolies would be frenetically jumping to get ADSL installed everytime an order comes through...

The endless delusions of a crumbling monopoly...

And while everyone is posting gripes Telkom is "crumbling" all the way to posting 9Bn Rand profits in a country of 45mil+ people where only 10% of the population has access to basic telephone lines. Wow! just think if 80% of the population were customers then Telkom could post 100Bn+ profits. Not in my lifetime. The bar has been set. If you want better service and prices your cheapest oftion would be to move to another country.

ou812ltd You are so right. The only chance of getting "decent" pricing and service is by moving to another country! Telkom and GVT are just hampering SA's progress. They deffinately not geared up, skilled, motivated and for sure as hell intelligent enough to be able to manage a Telecoms Industry at decent operational levels.

30 days? i would be nice if they could actually do it, but we all know whats going to happen.icasa will get flooded (not they give a hoot) and nothing else will happen.
