we should just all stand together and take Telkom to court. Someone please setup a paypal account. I'd be happy to contribute to some sort of legal action against them.

Or as another idea, we should all start to shake up the newspaper and media about what's really going on. It's shocking to see that Telkom is pretending to be the caring communications company. Everywhere you look, it's the Telkom foundation supporting some noble cause trying to win over some uninformed people.
They're also making claims about their internet service offering when there isn't really much to speak of.

I've said it hundreds of times, its not Telkom thats the problem, it's the goverment.

The problem as ic it with ICASA's ADSL regs, is that the regs should not need further clarification as to their intended meaning - the regs should be 100% clear and unambiguous, but sadly after all this time has been slept away @ ICASA, that is not the case .

ICASA must urgently gazette an unambiguated revision of its ADSL regs, furthermore urgent attention needs to be given [by ICASA] to the wholesale provisioning of ADSL, as well as adding specific punitive measures [significant fines need to be specified in the ADSL regs] to force Telkodemonopolies to comply, and then there is the 3GB c[r]ap...

You can post as many gripes about Telkom and ADSL regulations as you wish but nothing will be done untill we all combine efforts and recources to stick! it to them! I wrote letters, called the newspapers, called ICASA and it did not have the slightest impact. Everybody is unhappy but nobody really knows what to do about it. That is the true SA story. I predict that the economic oppression of the Telkom kind will carry on longer than apartheid did. Maybe one can lay a complaint at the New York Stock exchange where Telkom is listed. If farmworkers are treated badley then they won't buy the wine, why should it be any different with shares?

Agree with what you say. But i really doubt greedy investors in new york would care whether some ppl in South Africa are suffering due to telkom. I know i probably wouldnt. And i really doubt that half of them even know about south africa. :( .

It does not matter if they care or not. They have to know that it's blood money that they are making. I think it will cause some kind of sell off amongst the right people who do not want to be associated with a company that has such a sad reputation.

haha. The first thing you learn about investing is dont get emotionally involved. Telkom is i think in the top 1000 (i think) in the worlds most profitable companies. LOL! even though they are so *****...
Succesful investors and organisations dont care what the company does, just as long as theyre fundamentals are good and they have good growth potential...

Dont worry, when the SNO arrives and the monopoly ends, there will be a bit off a sell off... if it hasnt already started slightly.

Anyone who believes that the SNO will bring about change is completely wrong! GVT will Protect Telkom and the SNO. It will be a duopoly!

For true competition and innovation the market needs to be completely opened up! The fact that GVT owns huge stakes in Telkom and the SNO and they themselves are going to be the GNO..... you can stand on your head and whistle through you A$$ nothing going to happen.

Personally, I think the next step is for IS, ISPA, and other such parties to work on the wholesale leasing side of the system with ICASA.

They should launch their own complaint to sort out the wholesale.

At the moment it is all a bit backwards, it should have all started with the wholesale and then retail but as consumers we can only complain about the service WE get, now they need to complain about the service they get.

Don't think the competition commission is going to be able to sort it all out [but will help]... ICASA needs to step in.
