Hey there

I will be signing up to a broadband service towards the end of the year. I need good on line gaming performance and connectivity to a PS3 (after the second mortgage to afford the bloody thing). I hate Telkom so that is out and there is no Sentech coverage although 3G and Iburst have reception (Durbanville; Cape Town).

What would you recommend?

For gaming, you only option is ADSL. If play your PS3 online with wireless internet you may as well get a 15" black and white TV to complement your sh*tty connection.

I have an iBurst connection and it sucks for gaming, hence my pending ADSL application.

What about GOAL Tech's system (over power lines) and failing that what of the SNO?

How do you know about the latenc on GOAL's system? Its not out yet.

I'd wait and see what GOAL does, but the SNO might still take a while to provide residential packages.

Yes yes, have seenall the reviews for PS3 and Wii, but I have my reasons.

I notice a lack of comment on the 360? You're going to fork over R7500 (console + game) just to play MGS4? It won't even have any soccer games :p

Goal's BPL's still vapourware btw.

If you want online gaming i suggest you get a 360 as ps3 can't touch it in that department, i've been a playstation fan for a long time and event went as far as trying the free online system for PS2 and for south africa its not even worth a try, i tried it with adsl 512 and you get horrendous lag in every game as they use free/gamespy servers and they plan to keep it the same with ps3, plus theres already a local x360 community with more tha 150 players and even more when it launches and the online is good when playing locals and international players, plus it cheaper and you wont have soccer games/smackdown this year and most of the launch titles are multiplatform anyway, remember its about the games not the hardware
