All around the world, broadband access is becoming the preferred means by which individual consumers and small businesses connect to telecommunications networks. Broadband access typically provides high speed Internet, voice (or VoIP), and, increasingly, various video services. There are currently more than 200 million broadband users around the world, though South Africa’s numbers remain low by global standards. YAAAAA!!!!!

Great that they link MyADSL, they must be planning a pretty good service if they link us guys..

Aaah,.. they'll probably regret it later when we moan at them about everything.

yeah we tend to be harsh, but still I am happy for now with Telkom DSL 4Mbit, just cap is low low low.

Ditto on getting a Representative from Neotel on the forums.....

Hopefully it's not a case of keeping your friends close but your enemies closer lol!!

What benefits will we the consumers see from this wholesale launch? Does this mean the ISPs can purchase their bandwidth as from today from Neotel (Nearly said SNO) On the site it states that their international bandwidth goes through the SAT-3 cable so does that mean they buy their bandwidth from Telkom? Is so where is the competition in that? Im really eager to see how this all plays out sure sure its going to only mean better things to come.

As far as I know they (VNSL) is a partner in SAT-3 cable, can anyone confirm this? If that is the case I doubt if they need to buy from Telkom, except for some fees at the landing station.....he speculates...

Wonder if Trinitel and Morpheutel were under the list of candidates as well?

They are.. They also have access to 4 other undersea cables..
They will need to buy from telkom until april next year i think.....After Then they should have unrestricted access
Correct me if im wrong

If thats the case then it looks like we may still be screwed with regards to international bandwidth till next year? Oh well patience is a virtue!! :(

Ye no i think telkom has landing rights till then.. i dont care if i have to wait till april, weve w8ed this long it makes no difference

I can wait that long lets just hope its not another imminent story!! :)

What happens when broadband and telecoms are sorted out in the country what will happen to these forums It will be dull with no Telscum to drive us up the wall!! :( But thats a long way off!

OK, so now, which service providers are buying bandwidth from Neotel and how do I get some?
