What grates me is that we get the bum end of tech in SA simply because there is still a market for it... oh... and... we pay top dollar for it too!

Hey Alex, I might be getting D900 but haven't had a chance to play with it yet, is it possible to maybe upload like a few pics taken with the phone & maybe a video taken by it?

Have posted my first video and a photo in response to your request. It gives you and idea of what the D900's camera is all about:

Nice, thanx :) I assume the video looks & plays better on the phone from what you said on the blog? & some quick questions I keep reading everyone on international sites complain of is
- only 30 songs in playlist x 4 playlists?
- can't turn keypad tones off?
- Problems readings memory card/very slow?
- People have to increase volumes using a code? (*#8999*8378#)
- Extremely difficult to get sim card out?
- & I used to have a Samsung E800 & if you send images to the phone it would resize them or have a mini heart attack
receiving them, was this fixed on this phone?
Well thats all for now :)
Any input welcomed
Thanx in advance

The D900 is cool i've always wanted one until I played a bit with one...it's nice and all,but I really dont like the buttons it's sooo small and it's not easy to write with it espesily on mxit.

Well I can say that I am not happy with the D900 at all.
First it arrived with a blank installation CD. Okay - not a big problem - download the software from the net. Install the software - and it refuses to transfer photo's over the supplied USB cable. It gets like halfway and then it spits out something like " CM_READ_ERROR" . If you try again it freezes in the same spot ( while transferring the picture to the PC ) with the classical " Unknown Error". Sheez you would think for R3200 that they could at least have proper error codes :)
The rest of the stuff ( email and SMS ) works fine - so yes. I did install all the drivers properly. And yes - I did uninstall and re-install.
But wait, there is more :).
Themes - nope ! - People in Paris get the Eiffel Tower scene and at night the lights come on - and birds and clouds go over - And what do we get in South Africa ? A black screen. Thats it. Because the phone has no LED's you find that you are picking it up and pressing the button just to see if it is on.
So it basically depends on your location ( where you are on the planet ) as to what your theme will be. Who was the Samsung genius that figured that out ? Should we ( THE CUSTOMER ) not have the option about which theme we want on OUR phone ?
The camera is autofocus - with no lock - that means that the camera decides what it wants to focus on - and you guessed it - sometimes it focuses on the wrong thing and you can not manually override it.
Skins ? Yep. Two ! Black or White. WOW.
But wait , there is more :)
You can download the JAD and JAR files from the net - store it on the cell phone and ask the cell phone to execute it to install the Java application. ( Like you can with the Nokia ) and the SAMSUNG D900 will respond with " unknown file type" - or something similar.
So how do you get around this ? Download the modified Russian version that will actually execute the JAD/JAR file. Thank you Samsung . We have to depend on third-party developers to clean up your mess.
So - all those propaganda sites like http://d900.co.za - give them a miss. They dont tell you about the faults. Only the other bits.
Look, I must say the screen is crisp/good. But try reading a document ( pdf) on it - and you will go crazy. The fonts dont resize - so when you zoom in to read - you have to scroll left-right with every sentance.
Sound/Mp3 Player is okay. It sucks that you can only use SAMSUNG headphones because they are not the best quality. Okay, I can understand there is no place for a stereo jack because the phone is so thin - but at least make an adapter so that THE CUSTOMER can plug in his/her own headphones.
Nah, Samsung, I am seriously disappointed.

Alex, being a technology philistine, it took me a half hour to get to this point and it's great to be here. My question is simple. I am experiencing a problem synchronising my Outlook Calendar on my PC with my d900's Planner. Using a USB cable, I have been able to synchronise the contact list and task list. When attempting to synchronise the calendar, I get an error message after a few minutes of "retrieving data" that simply reads [ synchronization failed ].
I have been informed by some that this could relate to my "reccuring appointments" in my Outlook calendar. Is there anything I can check for before wasting more time trying to synchronise.

Kevin... If you're posting on blogs and forums, you're definitely more highly evolved than a technology philistine! Hope someone here can offer a solution. I'm also looking into it although I don't recognise the problem from experience. Anyway, keep an eye on the "reviews" post:
