Recovering the data on a dead Nokia 6230

My phone has died. It refuses to turn itself on. I've already harrassed Google into giving me sites that could be of some assistance, but to no avail. I can only agree to it being water damage (coz I have taken my phone into the bathroom while I showered a few times, and it was kinda... raining... 10mins before I realised my phone was dead).

I have attempted to clean the PCB using Chunkhead's Guide To Water Damage (though I didn't soak it, I just squirted). Funnily enough, I hadn't noticed any signs of corrosion, but I wouldn't know if all [supposedly] water-damaged phones show these. I haven't given up hope, but I do have an inquiry:

Is there any way for me to retrieve the data saved on the internal memory?

I would go so far as to solder the chip onto another phone (the one time I deny my phone backup, I manage to kill it, so yes, I'm somewhat desperate). I doubt my memory has been damaged, I just think it's a power problem (my battery works fine in other phones, another battery doesn't work in mine).

I have recently done a similar thing - except I had mine in the pocket of my jeans...in a washing machine! it is not as bad as it seems as the wash cycle had not started but it was sufficiently damp to 'stop' it from working. My mistake I think was trying to turn it on straight away. It started to come to life but I think I shorted it out and blew something internally.

I had over a hundred photo's (1.3 megapixel - phone is 6230i) and all contacts saved on the phone, stupidly, I had not saved to data card.

I brought it to a so called Nokia engineers shop but they said they would not work on it at the level required to retrieve data from the hard memeory.

I am interested to understand how practical it would be to swap out the relevant components to another phone? I am sorry that I cannot help you but I am sure that there are a lot ofg other people out there with similar problems.

I haven't managed to retrieve the data; a Nokia technician told me they weren't able to. Though, I did swap the Power Circuit Board, which gave me life. Changing components would bring back your phone, just not the way it was before
