Uncapped & Unshaped 512K at R1000pm, is this any good?

Just doing some homework. Heard that a ISP is looking at 512K unshaped and uncapped solution with low latency international. Apparantly at R1000pm inclusive of VAT . Can anybody comment on such a offer pls. I would like to know what to ask and what to be on the outlook for. Thanks:D

Well, yes that looks great.. I think. Low international must be SAIX or even better Verizon type connection, great.

Are you shure this is going to be happening?
 
Hell NO this is not an announcement. I am not in a position to announce anything - I am in fact asking for assistance to see if this is too good to be true or perhaps not even matching some stuff out there that I don't know about. So pls advise
 
Theoretically speaking, it would be reasonable under the current situation, but they could be preempting the new ADSL regs, which stipulate unshaped and uncapped local.

Mmm must be a catch some where! only R1k, best I have heard of was R1300 and no P2p and shaped. SO will be ok, but still to expensiove imo!
 
If true it is good under current conditions. Still not where we need to be when it comes to pricing, but good under the current regime....

IS offer an uncapped service for R1200 per month plus you get 6 usable static ip address's. P2P works just fine and so does everything else.

But this has been out for a while now. Unless you are reffering to a new ISP offering.

This is a little concerning as the best I am able to get from them is a 512K uncapped called Express and it does not come with static IP's and in addition they throttle the link if they think it is abused. Can you PLEASE give me a contact so that I can get access to this offer as well. Many thanks

O, yes, the Uncapped & Unshaped solution I was talking about is undergoing some Beta testing ( I am unfortunately not part of the test) Apparantly it works like a dream and althoug they do not give Static IP's, it looks like the best type of solution for serious gamers. Think they may launch on small scale in about 3 weeks or so. I heard that they may be advertising to the gamers in some gaming mag to see what the uptake may be. I will be looking out for the magazine ( can't be to many of those in SA)

That sounds very good. But whats the point of having uncapped, unshaped IS account if you get a blistering international max speed of about 10k/sec :D

IS doesnt seem to be very popular around these forums at the moment. I have seen alot of negative feedback from IS uncapped business users that say its useless.

Can someone in the know please give me a difinitive answer on this, as I would definately be interested in a solution like this one above (The IS one)

I think IS is the only ISP offering uncapped? Everyone says it is HIGHLY unstable, on average like 10 kb/s.

I think there are different uncapped accounts tho. I think the ones for +/-
R1k will be crappy! I know there are ones that run over fibre for R2500 upwards, and I believe they have lower contention ratios, and get more of a constant fast speed.

SAIX uncapped acc... now that will be awesome!
