Samsung Z400 ... some reassurance needed

Hi Guys

Due for an upgrade with Vodacom. Interested in the Samsung Z400.

Does anyone have this phone? Are you happy with it.

I chose this phone over the Nokia N80 and Sony K800i because:

N80: too bulky.
K800i: looks goofy

My main needs are that phone should be small, look kinda neat and have 3G.

The N80 rocks as a phone, but if you just need it to have 3G and be "small" then the N80 is definately not for you. I love it because it's Symbian, and I just love Symbian.

The z400 does look cool as a phone, I haven't played with one yet! My sister's D820's interface is pretty good, so if it's anything like that - i'd probably take it!

Check Before You Decide

After studying all the specs on the latest handsets, I decided to upgrade to the Samsung Z400.
However, after a few days I realized that there was certain features "missing". The service provider referred me to Samsung, who referred me back to Vodacom "client serices" who is trying to convince me that all Z400's are not the same and dont share the same features. The fact is that all Z400's are in fact the same. The problem is; Vodacom advertizes and markets the Z400 but they in fact give you the Z400V, which is an inferior handset to the Z400, although they look the same. Apparantly the employees at the different franchises arent informed of this and obviously cannot inform the consumer of that.
Imagine purcasing a Nokia 6230i or a Motorola V3i and a few days later some uninformed Vodacom help-desk person is trying his or her best to convince you that "all" 6230's and "all" V3's are in fact the same...
Make sure you check with your service provider if the handset they give you is in fact a Z400, if they advertise their handset as a Z400...

I'm not a fan of the Samsung's software compared to either sony ericsson or nokia. I suppose if all you're gonna do is make calls and show off a pretty phone then there shouldnt be a problem (my dad doesnt know a thing about phones but he manages with his samsung alright) but if u like figuring out the inner workings of your phone and using all its features to the max then the user friendliness lets it down, i think a nokia or sonyericsson is much more refined in that way.
